October, 2002 Saturday Oct. 12th the tower was put up and the repeater connected and tested. Operating at 155.805MHz, the repeater is a Motorola GR1225, the antenna is a DB224 on a 40' Rohn 25G tower. Mobile radios are Motorola M1225 40W with base mounted antennas, programmed for 16 channels.  Handhelds are 5W Maxon SP200K units with remote speaker, also programmed for 16 channels. Incoming telephone calls are routed through the repeater and signals all active handhelds simultaneously. Each handheld is capable of answering the call, and once the call is answered, any active handheld can talk to the caller. "Terrain" testing will be taking place in the next several weeks, in conjuction with a mapping project. Radio equipment was obtained from Huffman Communications of Corsicana, Tx. Thanks to everyone that helped on this project. Special thanks to Harold Bird for his assistance and expertise, Gene Wall for his assistance.
July, 2002 Little Dee put on line as a brush truck. Interesting note: The first live run the truck made was with Dee Tidwell as engineer. The pumper and the tanker had been hooked up refilling after training, and while hose was being stowed, Erman Sands and Dee responded with the brush truck. The truck and team performed well.
July, 2002 The tower base was poured, and the hinged base bolts were set in place.  Pressure pump was taken off of the tanker, and mounted on the new brush truck. The tank was repositioned to center the weight distribution on the truck. Hose reel and one inch hose was obtained from Affordable Fire of Mannford, truck will be online soon.
August, 2002 LeFlore County 911 has experienced delays in getting 911 service online.  The schedule is tentatively set for August, 2002 cutover.  When our radio equipment is installed later in the year, emergency dispatchers on 911 will be able to immediately contact the fire department, and well as police and ambulance. Until the radios are installed at the fire department, please contact fire department personnel directly by phone or in person.
July, 2002 The first part of the communications project began with assistance from contractors replacing culverts up Honobia Creek.  A hole for the tower base was needed, and a substantial hole was dug with a backhoe. Forms will be built and concrete poured for the hinged tower next. Huffman Communications shipped the Rohn 25 tower in June.  Actual radio installation cannot proceed until the FCC assigns frequencies.
June, 2002 The air conditioning project wil begin this month as board approval was given, and material costs were quoted by Kiamichi Building Supply.  Donny Faulkner at Kiamichi Building Supply will reduce the cost of materials as a donation to the fire department.  If possible under budget, both the air conditioning for the kitchen will be finished, and the air conditioning for the bay area could be wired and charged, so that only ducting would be required.
June, 2002 Many thanks to Erman Sands for his efforts in getting the one ton flatbed truck ready for finishing.  He prepared the tank for mounting, and leak tested the tank.  A light bar has been ordered from Affordable Apparatus in Mannford, and a temporary mobile radio will be installed. The 5HP pump is to be removed from the tanker for installation on the truck, and room should be left over for a 1 1/2" hose bed as well as a booster reel. In service date is to be determined.
