Station
Honobia Rural Fire Department was formed in 1989, and the first equipment
was a single brush truck, parked in a shed. A later Chevrolet brush truck
provided by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Forestry Division replaced
the original truck. Christ's 40 Acres had also provided use of a class
A American LeFrance pumper, but it generally remained parked at the mission
until a fire station was built..

In 1999, the present structure was started. This building housed
the pumper and the brush truck out of the weather and at the same location
for the first time.
In 2001, we obtained a REAP grant to purchase our own class A pumper, a 1978 Ford 1000gpm 500 gallon tank. When the Ford was purchased, the American LeFrance pumper was returned to Christ's 40 Acres. They were gracious enough to let the Fire Department use the pumper when it didn't have one. The first fundraiser in the new station was in 2001, when all the plumbing was finished. The station currently houses the Ford pumper, the Chevy brush truck, and a 2 1/2 ton 6x6 obtained in 2001 from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture. It has a kitchen and a small meeting area for board meetings, fundraising activities, etc., that also could be used to provide some support capabilities in case of natural or man made disasters or extended fireground operations. It also has restrooms and a shower area for cleaning or decontamination. The station is heated, and the kitchen area is air conditioned.
